Street Evangelism in Spain

Missionaries, Scott and Marisa Smith, are excited about the impact of a street evangelism event in July 2008. Others who participated in this nine day event were local Pastor Julio Cesar Irala, Sarah Taylor (SEC Teams Coordinator), and a group of eight Americans from a church in Florida.

The event took place in Santander, a city on the northern coast of Spain. Most of the outreach took place in the main town square right in front of the city hall. The daily street evangelism was oriented toward the children and there was also opportunity for literature distribution.

The Assembly of God church in Santander is less than a year old, so the impact of the team was huge as the entire team clearly proclaimed the gospel and invited people to accept Christ as Savior. Over twenty people gave their lives to the Lord right on the street. The church in Santander felt blessed by this hard working and anointed team. Scott Smith said, “This was an excellent team, very willing to work, and very bold in their presentation of the gospel. In 33 years of ministry in Spain, I have never experienced that many people finding Christ right there on the street.”

As a result of this event, prayer is needed for the follow-up emphasis. The church asks for prayer as they disciple those that gave their lives to the Lord. These individuals also need prayer for wisdom and guidance as they begin this very important and life-altering transition in their lives.
