God's Big Backyard

This past summer, the Vienna Christian Center hosted a Vacation Bible School/Camp.  It was a week packed with fun and adventure.  Sixty-five kids participated in the first three days and 48 went to the retreat center for an even bigger backyard adventure.

The kids learned abut serving family, friends, neighbors, community and most importantly, Jesus.  By Thursday, the staff was amazed to see how much kids were actually putting into practice from what they were discussing in their classes. The kids were volunteering to wash dishes, clean, and help out by serving in so many ways.

How amazing it was to see children excited to serve others with the love of Jesus. It was not just about serving, or doing, but about the attitude of the heart and the motive behind the service that was noticed by the staff and even the parents after the children returned home.  One parent called and asked, "What did you do to my children?  It is so wonderful; they are helping out and I don't have to ask them to do things. They even are helping the neighbors!"

Approximately one third of the children in attendance do not have any connection to Vienna Christian Center!  This was an amazing time of getting to know these new children and make an impact in their lives by showing them the love of Jesus.
