Warm Soup for Kids in Shutka
What would you do if 100 hungry children showed up on your
doorstep? This is nothing new to Brian and Colleen Thomas,
and they know exactly what to do: feed them. The Thomas
family runs a soup kitchen in Shutka, Macedonia, where they
feed an average of 100 gypsy children five times a week. This
ministry has progressively grown over the last year and a half
and reached their largest attendance of 120 in July.

One reason for the largest attendance in July was due to
the ministry of a team of young people from Nashville,
Michigan. This team worked on the facilities and grounds
during the day, helped out in the kitchen for dinner, and put
on a Vacation Bible School for the kids in the evening. The
presence of God grew stronger every night of the VBS, and the
children grew deeper in their relationship with God. One
night, more than twenty children knelt down and lifted their
hands in prayer asking God not only to save them, but to use
them for His glory. It is Brian Thomas’ desire to see these
children (a majority of whom come from non-Christian
backgrounds) to rise up and “change the situation of darkness
and poverty to one of light and life!”

The Thomas’ are grateful for the team from Michigan and for
Save Europe's Children, who has helped fund the Soup Kitchen
Ministry. They are excited for the recent growth in
attendance and the spiritual growth of the kids. The Thomas’
expect even more growth in the future, but for now, they will
continue to reach as many children as they can with warm soup
and the love of God.
