KidsQuest Drug Free in Czech

By Julie Wootton

This past May, two local Czech churches hosted the KidsQuest Drug Free program in their cities.  Children’s pastor, Štěpán Beran, led the program in České Budějovice, in which several schools were visited.  In all, over 600 children saw this drug prevention program, allowing the local churches to make a very positive impact in the community.

One student’s mother sent the following note in response to the program:

“My daughter, who is a student in the 3rd grade, was very touched by yesterday’s presentation. [She] was very excited as she told me about the whole presentation and read through the comic book. She wanted to discuss with me the themes presented and explain what she learned.  I thank you for having these preventative events for children. Some themes are difficult to open in the home environment so that we could speak about them openly with our children. I see yesterday’s presentation for the children as a means for good prevention for my daughter.”

Another KidsQuest Drug Free program was hosted in Havířov on May 30 on the town square, a creative venue for such an event.  That day began with rain and wind however!  But, by the time it was necessary to set up the stage on the square, the rain had stopped and the sun had come out!  About 130 children, mostly gypsies, gathered to watch the one-hour program.  Once again, children were reached with a positive message of drug prevention and the local church’s presence was made more visible in the community.
